Anna May
Product Designer

Product Designer - ReachOut Australia - (Sept 2022 - present)
ReachOut is an online mental health service for Australians aged 13-25.
During my time there, I worked closely on ReachOut’s online chat service, PeerChat, in researching, designing, testing and implementing changes to optimise the service and achieve social impact targets.
As part of this project, I facilitated workshops and interviews with SMEs and key stakeholders.
I demonstrated my communication skills by conducting challenging face-to-face user testing with Young People facing mental health challenges.
I redesigned all webpages to ensure they met Web Accessibility and SEO/Google EAAT guidelines. As part of this I took ownership of the design system in its infancy and managed its evolution.
I completed training in Web Accessibility, Youth Mental Health and Peer Work to supplement my user experience skills in the mental health field.
I often held paired programming sessions with front end developers to mentor and bring my designs to life.
I drove the design and implementation of a funded web project aimed to increase reach to young people who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islanders.
I helped test and shape an ongoing AI project to allow young people to access next step support in their mental health journey.

Senior UX Designer - Me&U (Mar - Jul 2022)
At me&u, I worked on the initial stages of implementing an Enterprise Menu Management system for large scale venue groups across Australia, UK and USA. This involved working closely to gather and analyse quantitative data from Business Intelligence, engaging with the Customer Experience team extensively for User Interviews and presenting solutions to key Sponsors to get the project onto the roadmap.
I utilised my existing experience of Squad working structure to shape the new Scalability Squad by establishing ways of working, initiating Development ceremonies, running retros and managing Productboard on behalf of the team.
I worked closely with the Design Team to further develop the existing Design System whilst conducting a UI refresh of the CMS system with a view to address improved user accessibility and mobile responsiveness.

Product Designer - Rezdy (Sept 2021 - Mar 2022)
Rezdy specialises in B2C travel and tourism booking software. I worked alongside the Product Manager to conduct customer interviews, gather data and analyse results in order to prioritise quarterly projects and develop wireframes for the Agile software team to plan into sprints.
My design and prototyping was adhoc and often on the fly so it involved quick thinking, organisational skills and I was often under pressure. I was able to face these challenges to deliver results for the company.
I worked across multiple teams and stakeholders to understand and assess the limitations of the platform in order to drive decisions and allocate tasks.
I worked closely with a newly created design team to create a design vision and begin the process of evolving Material Design components to a customised company wide design system and compliment the product with a lightweight mobile responsive application.

UI/UX Specialist - SocietyOne (Mar 2021 - Sept 2021)
This role was newly created so I came onboard to utilise my past experience to implement new processes, documentation methods and tackle the challenge of managing a disorganised approach to the research phases and the design iteration process for a number of stalled projects.
I took onboard the conducting of user interviews and translating findings into solid factual data and presented concepts along with design rationale to stakeholders across the company with different invested interests in the product.
I worked to drive forward completion of a revamped Broker Application portal and native mobile digital banking application whilst dealing with the challenges of working remotely for a company with a strictly office based culture during lockdown.

Product Designer - Insured by us (Aug 2019 - Feb 2021)
Insured by Us produced a whitelabel travel insurance booking SaaS for companies such as Woolworths and Vodafone. I worked across the Development, Customer Success and Content teams to document, help prioritise and manage business development using Agile methodology.
I wireframed and created user stories for UI improvements and client feature requests and then prioritised and delegated these tasks to the front end developer. We also collaborated to implement a design system to improve the speed and efficiency of onboarding new clients using Base Web framework and Storybook.I conducted user interviews, analysed results and created user personas to communicate the importance of customer focus for each specific product.
I championed communication and collaboration of business decisions across teams to remind and reinforce the importance of the roles of each team member in each project.
I worked alongside Customer Success management to overhaul project documentation standards and took on the job of maintaining the new guidelines using Confluence.
I contributed to the Growth Hacking team by injecting my knowledge of SEO and UX improvements.

UX/UI Designer - Mozo (Nov 2017 - Sep 2019)
I worked to overhaul Mozo’s website with new branding and to be mobile responsive. It involved designing to accommodate complex price comparison data and ensuring SEO optimisation.
I collaborated with Marketing, Sales and Content teams to produce assets and promotional media and created associated visual documentation and branding guides from scratch.
I was responsible for the redesign of Mozo’s Marketview product resulting in a sale to one of the Big 4 banks and assisted in the launch of a successful credit score and business loan referral service.
